Dombrowski is a former member of the cross-country team at Northgate High School, according to the NCSA College Recruiting website.
In his 2026 recruiting profile on the site, Dombrowski wrote, “I hope to break 15 minutes in the 5k and 4 minutes in the mile by the end of high school as well as to improve considerably in college.
“I am diligent and I always show up to practice to show out. I have a good GPA, I have pushed myself academically, and I am always prepared for the next challenge.”
He now attends the University of Georgia in Athens, investigators said.
Authorities have not revealed any motive for the alleged attack.
Investigators did say that Dombrowski allegedly drove from Athens on Friday night, slept in his car, and on Saturday morning, put on a jersey from East Coweta High School, the opposing cross-country team, per Fox 5.
The Newnan Police Department has confirmed with the Coweta County School System that Dombrowski is not a current or former student of East Coweta High School, police said in an updated statement.
It is unclear whether Dombrowski has retained an attorney who can speak on his behalf.
