The eldest daughter of slain Ohio mom Ashley Flynn was not surprised to learn about her father’s mistress — a woman the family knew through church, Flynn’s sister said in court this week.
Ashley, 37, was found fatally sH๏τ in the head in her Tipp City, Ohio home early in the morning on Feb. 16.
Her husband Caleb Flynn, a former American Idol contestant who had called 911 and claimed an intruder killed Ashley, is now on trial for her murder.
Caleb, 40, a former worship pastor at a local church, allegedly texted his mistress in the days before Ashley’s death about wanting to kill his wife, jurors heard last week.
On Monday, Sept. 21, Ashley’s sister told the jury that the mistress was a woman they all knew from church — the same person who resigned from the church without giving a reason soon after Ashley’s killing.
The Flynns’ daughters, ages 10 and 12, were in the next room when Ashley was killed, according to testimony and statements by prosecutors in court. Ashley was found fatally sH๏τ in bed, lying “in a sleeping position,” with blood and brain matter “obscuring” her injuries, according to witness testimony and statements by prosecutors in court.

While the girls were “shocked” to hear about their father’s affair, the eldest daughter was “not surprised” upon learning the idenтιтy of her father’s mistress, Ashley’s sister Kayla Keyt testified on Monday, as streamed online by Court TV.
“They were brokenhearted for Mommy,” Keyt said of the girls’ reaction to learning about the affair with someone they personally knew. “They were shocked, they were upset for their mom because they said, ‘She loved daddy more than anyone else in life. So why did Daddy not love her as much?’”
Prosecutors have focused heavily on the alleged mistress, claiming they retrieved more than 100,000 texts between the two in the year before Ashley’s killing, including messages in which Caleb allegedly said he could not stop thinking about trying to kill Ashley. The woman is also expected to testify in the trial.
“I was up until 4 a.m. last night crying, literally trying to think of ways to kill her and not go to jail,” Caleb allegedly wrote in one exchange, prosecutors said last week during opening statements streamed online by Court TV. “If I could literally kill her and not go to hell, I would do it in a heartbeat. That is how dark and how hateful I feel.”
