Carbon Monoxide Claims Five Lives

A heartbreaking tragedy has devastated a family in Toledo, Ohio, after a grandmother and her four young grandchildren died following a suspected carbon monoxide incident inside a vehicle.

The family’s final hope ended when 4-year-old Legacy «Ace» Coleman, who had remained hospitalized in critical condition, was taken off life support after doctors determined he could not recover.

Authorities identified the victims as Candace «Big Mama/Kandie» McAllister, 36, and her grandchildren: Liberty «Peach» Coleman, 4, Legacy «Ace» Coleman, 4, Storm «ʙuттerfly» Coleman, 3, and Stone «Stoner» Coleman, 2. Legacy, the twin brother of Liberty, became the fifth family member to lose his life following the tragedy.

According to investigators, the incident occurred after the family’s Ford Explorer became disabled with a flat tire. Candace McAllister reportedly called the children’s father for ᴀssistance.

When he arrived at the scene, he found everyone inside the SUV unconscious and immediately called 911. Emergency crews attempted lifesaving measures before transporting the victims to area hospitals.

The children’s mother, Adriana Coleman, spoke through tears after learning that Legacy would not survive. She described each of her children as loving, joyful, and full of unique personalities, saying her life had completely changed in an instant.

Investigators later told the family that carbon monoxide levels inside the vehicle measured approximately five times the lethal limit during testing.

Toledo Fire Chief Allison Armstrong said investigators continue examining the vehicle to determine how the ᴅᴇᴀᴅly gas entered the pᴀssenger compartment.

Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz and Toledo Police ᴀssistant Chief Kevin Braun expressed their condolences, stating that no foul play is currently suspected while the investigation remains ongoing.

As relatives prepare to lay their loved ones to rest, the Toledo community has rallied around the Coleman and McAllister families with prayers and financial support during one of the city’s most heartbreaking recent tragedies.
