Ella Langley now has the longest-running Billboard H๏τ 100 hit of all time.

The country musician’s “Choosin’ Texas” officially surpᴀssed Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” on Thursday, Sept. 22 after spending 23 weeks at the the Billboard H๏τ 100’s No. 1. Carey’s holiday hit, released in 1994, spent 22 non-consecutive weeks, per Billboard.

Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas,” co-written with Luke Dick, Joybeth Taylor and fellow country star Miranda Lambert, was released in October 2025 and became Langley’s first song to reach No. 1 on the H๏τ 100. The tune served as the lead single from her album Dandelion, which was released on April 10.

The song was inspired by a unique situation that Lambert found herself in, Langley told Rolling Stone in April.

“We were at this writers retreat, and I just asked her,” Langley, 27, said of Lambert, 42. “She had a dog in the back and a kangaroo in the pᴀssenger seat, and got pulled over. I said randomly, ‘I’m sure [the police officer] was like, She’s from Texas, I can tell.‘”

Ahead of this year’s CMA Awards in November, Langley has earned nine total nominations, with three — Single of the Year, Song of the Year and Music Video of the Year — honoring “Choosin’ Texas.” Langley’s also been nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year with Dandelion; her single “Be Her” also earned nods for Single and Song of the Year, while “I Can’t Love You Anymore” with Morgan Wallen was nominated for Musical Event of the Year.

“Choosin’ Texas” has also earned two ACM Awards and one American Music Award, per a press release. The song has amᴀssed more than 1.6 billion streams worldwide, and its music video has garnered 86 million views so far, per a press release.

Prior to “Choosin’ Texas” and “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus held the record for most weeks atop Billboard’s H๏τ 100, preceded by Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” and Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.”
