Family Honors 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan Following His Return Home

Fort Bragg, North Carolina — Family members, fellow soldiers and supporters are remembering the life and service of 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, the 25-year-old U.S. Army officer who returned home this week in a flag-draped casket after being k1ll3d during an enemy missile and drone attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.

His return marked a solemn moment for both his military unit and the community that continues to honor his sacrifice.

Originally from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Tyler James Feehan began his military career with the Hawaii Army National Guard before earning his commission through Brigham Young University.

At the time of the attack, he was serving as a platoon leader with the 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Following his return home, members of Feehan’s family shared that while they continue to grieve, they also hope to preserve his legacy by creating opportunities that will inspire future ROTC cadets and military leaders.

They described him as a dedicated officer, mentor and leader whose commitment to serving others extended beyond his military duties.

Military leaders also paid tribute to the young officer. Lt. Gen. John L. Rafferty, commanding general of the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command, said Tyler James Feehan’s service and sacrifice would never be forgotten. Brig. Gen. John Dawber, commander of the 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command, praised his leadership and dedication to the soldiers under his command, calling his impact on the unit lasting and significant.

According to the Department of Defense, 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan was k1ll3d during the attack on July 18, while Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas, was k1ll3d the previous day during the same series of attacks. A third U.S. service member was initially reported missing, and the incident remains under official investigation.

The Army announced that Tyler James Feehan will be posthumously promoted to the rank of Captain and awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Combat Action Badge. During his military career, he had already earned the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Combat Action Badge in recognition of his service.

As funeral arrangements and memorial events continue, family members say their mission is now to ensure that Tyler James Feehan’s dedication, leadership and commitment to serving his country continue to inspire future generations. His legacy, they say, will be measured not only by his military achievements but also by the lives he influenced throughout his service.
