Funeral held for Greenville Police Sgt. Ashley Munoz, in-laws killed in tragic crash
SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Greenville Police Officer Ashley Munoz and her in-laws, who were killed in a Spartanburg County crash, were laid to rest on Thursday.
Family members, law enforcement, and the community all gathered at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Simpsonville for a funeral mᴀss.
The crash
Munoz, 35, was one of six people involved in a crash on May 15. She, along with her mother and father in-law and two other people, died at the scene.
Munoz is survived by her wife, Diana Munoz, who was also in the crash and works as an officer for the Greenville Police Department. The couple has two young children.
About Sgt. Ashley Munoz
Officials said Munoz was an 11-year veteran of the Greenville Police Department. She was promoted to sergeant in 2023 and supervised GPD’s Criminal Investigations Units, including Property Crimes, Financial Crimes and Family Crimes.
Before becoming a sergeant, Munoz served as a school resource officer at League Academy, according to the department. She also mentored students through the G.R.E.A.T. Program, focusing on how students’ choices can affect their futures.
