The emotional gathering took place nearly one week after the five relatives l0st their lives in what authorities have described as a targeted family sh00ting.
Loved ones released white balloons into the sky while sharing prayers, memories, and messages of hope. Community leaders encouraged residents to stand together in support of the surviving family members, emphasizing unity as East St. Louis continues to recover from one of its most devastating family tragedies in recent years.
According to the Illinois State Police, at least seven members of the same family were sh0t at multiple locations across the city on July 12, 2026.
Five victims were pronounced d3ad, while two additional relatives survived with serious injuries and continue receiving medical care.
Investigators stated there is no ongoing threat to the public as the case remains under active investigation.
Authorities have identified the suspects as Ja’ymier Davis, 16, who has been charged as an adult, and a 15-year-old girl, whose idenтιтy has not been released because she is a juvenile.
Prosecutors allege the two teenagers were involved in the targeted att4ck, although the legal proceedings remain ongoing and both are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Officials said the investigation continues as detectives review evidence and interview additional witnesses.
