Lindsay Clancy’s attorney was asked about Patrick Clancy’s 60 Minutes interview, which marked the first time Patrick has spoken publicly since his former wife’s trial ended.
Kevin Reddington, Lindsay’s attorney, told reporters, per WCVB, that he had seen the interview, which aired on Sunday, Sept. 20, on CBS.
“It’s pretty much what we’ve heard all along,” Reddington said of the interview. “I think he’s been pretty consistent.”
Reddington noted that he does not represent Patrick and that he was not involved in the decision to appear on the show. Asked whether Lindsay had seen the interview, Reddington said he had not spoken to her.
Patrick and his wife, Dr. Rachel Danis, were interviewed by CBS correspondent Ross Douthat.
During the interview, Patrick responded to conspiracy theories surrounding the deaths of his children.
“It’s deeply harmful to the legacy of my children,” he said. “It is a huge distraction from what really matters here, which is perinatal mental health. And it’s done real harm to real people, myself included but also others.”
The couple revealed that they are starting a family. They live together in New York City, having married in April.
Lindsay is charged with murder in the deaths of the three children she had with Patrick — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan.
Though she does not dispute that she killed the children, Lindsay pleaded not guilty by lack of criminal responsibility.
During the closely watched trial, Reddington argued that Lindsay had been failed by medical providers whom she had turned to for help with postpartum mental health issues.
Her plea, which is essentially an insanity plea, hinges on the claim that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time of the killings.
Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial in Lindsay’s trial after jurors said they could not reach a unanimous verdict.
In the aftermath of the trial, multiple jurors said they had been split 11-1 in favor of a not guilty by lack of criminal responsibility verdict.
Prosecutors, who have claimed Lindsay deliberately killed her children, have not yet said if they plan to retry her on murder charges.
On Monday, Sept. 21, Reddington filed a motion to dismiss the case.
The parties are due back in court on Sept. 29.
