Nolan Wells’ Friends Sue Former NFL Star Terrell Owens For Allegedly Making “Malicious” Comments
Three of Nolan Wells friends are suing former NFL Star Terrell Owens for allegedly making “false and malicious” statements in the aftermath of the college student’s death.
Attorneys representing Warren Hudson, Jax Pitalo and Morgan Seymour filed the civil suit in the Southern District of Mississippi Southern Division on Oct. 5. Representatives for Owens have not yet responded to the filing.

The lawsuit, obtained by Oxygen, accuses Owens of sharing a defamatory video about the three friends first posted by the Trent Out Loud Show, which the attorneys contend suggested that the friends killed Wells and deleted items off his phone.
While sharing the video, Owens is accused of captioning his own post, “ARREST THEM IMMEDIATELY!! LIKE YESTERDAY!!”
“The X Post is not only defamatory on its face,” the attorneys argued, “but also as a full-throated endorsement of the defamatory Trent Out Loud Video.”
What Happened to Nolan Wells?
The video centered on the circumstances surrounding Wells’ death after the 18-year-old disappeared during a July 4th party on Horn Island. Wells’ friends—who have repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and insisted they loved their friend—told authorities that Wells opted to stay behind at the party after they experienced boat trouble and left that afternoon.
Wells’ body was discovered two days later washed up on the northwest end on the island.

“Since that fateful and tragic day, conspiracy theorists, grifters, hoax peddlers, and other modern-day hucksters and plain liars have perpetuated the disgusting and false narrative that Warren, Jax, and Morgan somehow murdered Nolan and covered up this supposed heinous crime,” his friends’ attorneys wrote in the suit. “These bad actors have acted on a variety of motives, including their need to identify and attack Girardian scapegoats, to garner social media clicks for profit and, in some instances, outright racism. Owens is one such bad actor, and one of the most famous such individuals.”
No Criminal Charges Filed in Nolan Wells’ Death
A Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office report, obtained by Oxygen, ruled that the cause and manner of Wells’ death was “undetermined.”
After hearing the evidence in the case, a grand jury unanimously decided Sept. 18 to issue a “no true bill” finding in the case, meaning there was not enough evidence to support any criminal charges in Wells’ death.

The grand jury also found there was “no credible evidence” to suggest his friends “engaged in any criminal conduct” related to his death, per the report.
The attorneys representing the three argued that Owens’ post caused “devastating and far-reaching” consequences for the trio.
“By pairing Plaintiffs’ pH๏τo with a demand for their immediate arrest,” they alleged, “the Defamatory X Post also placed Warren, Jax, and Morgan before Owens’ audience in a false light, as murderers and participants in a murder coverup who had escaped justice, that would be highly offensive to any reasonable person.”

They argued that Owens made the post with “actual malice” despite their being “absolutely no evidence” that the friends had done anything wrong and requested both compensatory and punitive damages as a result of the defamation and false light allegations.
Court records show that the attorneys have also filed a lawsuit against Trent Hall, who operates Trent Out Loud.
Oxygen reached out to representatives for Owens and Hall but did not receive an immediate reply.
The plaintiffs’ attorneys simply told Oxygen, “We ball.”
