The attorney representing Christina Siders, the grandmother at the center of Ohioās so-called āHouse of Horrorsā case, argued that she was the āonly adult in the homeā responsible for caring for the family.
āDefendant paid for rent, utilities and other necessities in the home,ā the attorney states in a filed motion.
āDespite her own medical conditions, Defendant was also tasked with caring for her husband and his significant medical needs and physical limitations.ā
The attorney has additionally peŃιŃioned for a reduced bond to permit her client to reside near family members.
āThe nature and circumstances of the crimes charged, despite initial hyperbolic statements by officials and excessive public speculation and media coverage, involve no evidence that the alleged acts involved violence, physical harm, weapons, or an ongoing threat to public safety,ā the motion adds, reportsĀ the Mirror US.

āThe available facts indicate that the charges pertain to allegations that Defendant, along with her husband, permitted her son, her daughter-in-law, and their children to reside in her home.
āThere is no evidence that Defendant participated in any acts of abuse causing serious physical harm to any of the alleged victims.ā
The children, ranging in age from 20 months to 18 years, were removed from the familyās residence in Hamden, Ohio, on June 30, earlier in July. They were found when officers executed a search warrant connected to a separate charge involving the childrenās father, Gary Siders II, 36.
According to authorities, Siders had allegedly exposed himself to the public on four separate occasions in May. Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson described the children as being crammed into a single 12-foot-by-12-foot room ācovered in bugs and squatting,ā with a ādistant look in their eyes.
āThey looked like almost feral animals,ā Wilson said. āIt was terrible.ā
