TODAY: Memorial service for Bexar County Sheriff’s deputy killed by wrong-way driver
SAN ANTONIO – Funeral services take place Tuesday morning for the Bexar County Sheriff’s deputy who was killed last month in a wrong-way crash.
Family and friends will pay their respects to Meredith Portillo, who was off duty at the time of the accident.
The memorial service begins at 10 a.m. at the Cornerstone Church off Stone Oak Parkway.
Today’s procession will depart at 9 a.m. from Mission Park Funeral Home Chapel South and is expected around 9:45 a.m. at the Cornerstone Church.
The ᴅᴇᴀᴅly accident took place on July 21 when Portillo was riding in a car with friends when they were hit by a wrong-way driver.
Portillo began her law enforcement career with the sheriff’s office in September 2023. She had just graduated from the Detention Academy in January.
After the memorial service, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office will honor Deputy Portillo outside the church.
