In court on Wednesday, Tennessee ᴀssistant Attorney General John Ayers would not answer a question as to whether the state will try to execute Pike again. She remains under the custody of the Tennessee Department of Correction and is shackled to her hospital bed, per her lawyers’ statement.
Asked about Pike’s potential recovery, Zivot said he was not ready to make any prognosis.
“I think it’s still early, critically ill patients tend to move in a variety of ways,” said Zivot. “The fact she is doing something now puts her in good position, but I wouldn’t suggest it’s smooth sailing from here and there won’t be any residual impact.”
